MARCH
We aerify both Champions and Keene Run each year and this benefits the grass in many ways:
reduces compaction and thatch buildup
improves fertilizer intake
improves air change between the soil and the atmosphere
enhances soil water uptake
Champions Hole No. 6 Drainage Project
This trench in the middle of the fairway stretches from the front edge of the right bunker all the way down to the front green bank with others running perpendicular to it the width of the fairway. This helps drain the fairway to further increase the health of the turf and playability in wet weather conditions.
Project Timeline
March 4 - March 15

SOD
Areas were sodded due to traffic and bentgrass encroachment. These new varieties of grass will be able to withstand heat, drought and more traffic. We have sodded significantly throughout Champions, replacing bentgrass with bluegrass around numerous tee banks. There has also been sod placed on No. 6 fairway to patch up a couple of places and on the pond bank on No. 8 running the length of the fairway. Other areas include around holes No. 9 and No. 18 where the Barbasol grandstands were located. Keene Run has also added new sod throughout the course, such as No. 1 tee & green and No. 6 green.

Keene Run Range Drainage Project
